Any input would be appreciated. Standard rooms there are rather small, but OK, if I remember correctly. Log in to get trip updates and message other travellers.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} Tahoe is more of a world class destination, and though its casinos are not that special, there is so much to see and do at the hotel's doorstep, that you might be happier there if gambling is not the main purpose of your trip. Read the reviews. Walking between casinos on Virginia St. But harrah's isn't indicative of the rest of Reno , which is pretty awesome these days. There are new businesses opening up all over town, including many restaurants and bars Yelp is a good source for current restaurant reviews. So you should consider renting a car , for maybe a couple of days. Reno wouldn't be nearly as attractive for us, if we didn't always drive there, because there are great places to drive to, from Reno. Machines are looser, blackjack is arguably the best in the world, comps are significantly more generous, and casino workers are more friendly and personable. They have showrooms Eldorado presents shows, Silver Legacy presents headliners and comedians , lots of restaurants and bars, and Circus has a carnival for children with circus acts, just as in LV. We have free rooms at Harrahs for our dates in Reno. Of course Reno doesn't have nearly the entertainment offerings of Vegas but there is entertainment in Reno - especially on the weekends. I want to spend a few days there as well as Laughlin , the later being a solo trip in April along with one with my wife in June. Nothing fancy. It's the top floor of the extension and its rooms are slightly more nicely appointed than those on other floors, as some are adjoining to suites. Join the player clubs in Reno. If you were coming from overseas and only had time to visit one city in Nevada , you'd probably want to see Las Vegas , There's nothing else like it. The area by the river has been developed for recreation and is very popular with all generations. One thing you will likely appreciate about Reno, is that it's much cooler than Las Vegas in June, and it cools off at night. I spent 30 minutes in Reno on the way to Sacramento from Vegas. I will be going in June over a weekend with my sister we are both in our 40's. And Reno has some sort of special event just about every week. But do venture out to other casinos to tease them with your bankroll. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}I am thinking Reno but have heard bad reviews. If you will be in a standard room, request to be put in a room on the 16th floor of the west tower extension the part that runs along 2nd St. They also have very nice Las Vegas-like resorts with plenty of restaurants and even year-round pools. We use the bus system in both cities, but we find Reno's is better, because the station is handier, buses aren't as crowded, and it doesn't take long to get anywhere. Vegas is our entertainment destination, while Reno is for gambling, though we do a lot of that at both. The advice to rent a car is good, as a car is not a burden in Reno as it is in Las Vegas.
